Additional course regulations

Some courses and awards have approved Additional Course Regulations (formerly Special Regulations) that confer alternative regulations due to professional body and/or employer requirements.

Additional Course Regulations take precedence over the Regulations for Taught Awards. Where the Additional Course Regulations are silent however, the standard regulations for the relevant level of study will apply in full.

The University has recently produced new sets of Additional Course Regulations, which contain provisions for new and existing students. Existing students wishing to view copies of older versions of the Additional Course Regulations should contact quality@canterbury.ac.uk.

Additional Course Regulations take precedence over the Taught Regulations. Where the Additional Course Regulations are silent however, the standard regulations for the relevant level of study will apply in full.

NOTE: The University has approved a new set of Additional Course Regulations for appropriate courses to be implemented from September 2026. The Additional Course Regulations apply to all students on a course, regardless of the date they commenced the course. However, previous versions of the Additional Course Regulations (marked as 'Superseded') are available below, in case of appeal by a student registered before September 2026.
