Sophie Geddes: SportLab

Sophie completed an internship over the summer holiday with SportsLab, helping to support the University in gaining an accreditation from UK anti-doping for providing students with essential anti-doping education and a clean sporting environment in which to train and compete.

First year student Sophie Geddes worked with Sport and Exercise Science lecturers and PhD students to begin the initial stages in gaining an accreditation from UKAD. This involved a variety of tasks such as writing a statement of ‘clean sport’ for CCCU, making visual aids to be displayed in the Sports Centre and producing learning support materials for the September workshops for athletes and scholars.

Sophie applied for this internship because she felt so passionately about the subject and wanted to help in making sport clean.  It also allowed her to find out about the other areas of research taking place in the section of Sport and Exercise Science, making it a very insightful experience.
