Sport Coaching Science

Here at Canterbury Christ Church University, we have been providing sport-related degrees for over 25 years.

Our BSc in Sport Coaching Science builds on this experience, and provides a unique blend of academic and professional expertise to prepare you for a career as a successful sport coach, or for employment within the wider context of sport.

Sport coaching placements

Effective sport coaching requires a range of physical, technical, tactical and interpersonal skills that are often most successfully developed and enhanced by engaging with practical coaching experience.

As part our Sport Coaching Science programme you will have the opportunity to complete a placement at each year of study with local sports clubs and organisations. By working under an experienced mentor, you will be able to develop areas of your coaching and gain valuable experience.

The nature of the coaching placement is flexible according to the sport and depends on the sport coaching experience that the student has and the coaching opportunities that are available with the University’s partnerships with local sports clubs and teams. Our sport coaching placement team will assist you in finding a suitable placement with our list of mentor coaches, or a mentor coach of the students choosing, and will support students throughout the placement.
