About ReCap

ReCap allows you to access recordings of lectures and other content at a time that suits you, pause, rewind and revisit as much as you like.

ReCap is not a replacement for attending your teaching sessions, as it cannot provide you with a full learning experience where you are able to participate, ask questions and discuss topics with your peers.

Your lecturer should inform you if the class is being recorded.  Where possible to do so, a light will be installed on the podium to show you when recordings are in progress.  Recordings will usually capture the screen and podium microphone, so if you ask a question or make a comment your voice may be recorded.  Sometimes your lecturer may use a camera as well, in which case they should let you know whether your image may be recorded also.

Recordings of taught sessions will usually be made available through Blackboard, and only to students the session was intended for, and staff involved in teaching and supporting you on your course. To make the recording available to others consent must be gained from anyone whose voice or image was captured. See the Digital Learning Capture policy for more information about the rights of staff and students, as well as how long recordings will be retained for.

What do I do if I don’t want to be recorded?

You have the right not to have your voice and/or image recorded as part of a taught session, in which case please inform your lecturer before the session.
