The main Library in Canterbury is based in Augustine House, a state-of-the-art building. Located near the city centre, Augustine House is just ten minutes' walk from North Holmes Road.
The Library covers four floors, serviced by three lifts and offers a range of learning spaces to support collaborative learning, group study work or quiet individual study. There are also six group study rooms, which students can book online.
There are over 350 PCs throughout the building, plus 200 i-Borrow laptops which you can use anywhere in the building. Augustine House is fully wi-fi enabled. Using the latest technology, it offers fast download and upload speeds. We also have four Quick Access PCs in the ground floor atrium for quick tasks like checking emails or printing. These will automatically log you out after 15 minutes.
To enhance building security, access to Augustine House is limited to registered CCCU students and staff after 6pm (weekdays) and 5pm (weekends) via smartcard only through the main entrance. Always remember your smartcard, if you are going to the library and make sure you always keep it with you.

Our University welcomes people from all faiths as well as those with none.
We have made provision for a faith space in Augustine House for the use of students and staff. This is located just outside the security gates at the side entrance of the building.
It is a space for prayer, meditation and reflection and it is not designated for workshops, society events, or staff meetings. Please respect your fellow users and keep silence. Be aware of the religious sensibilities of others, which may be very different to your own.
Availability and access
Faith Space 1 (Ahg.28a) |

If you need somewhere safe to keep your property whilst working in Augustine House, you can use one of the lockers provided.
There are 64 lockers located on the ground floor, just outside the security gates at the back and side entrances. Some are designated for Postgraduate students.
You can borrow a locker key for 14 days. You may wish to renew the locker key if it is close to its due date, or return it if you have finished with the locker.
To apply to use a locker, visit the Augustine House Reception Desk to complete a form and be issued with a key.
Please note:
There are eight lockers in Augustine House designated for long term use by users with disabilities or health issues.
If you need to use these lockers, please get in touch with the Student Disability Service.
Anyone wishing to film or take photographs within Augustine House is required to seek permission.
As Augustine House is a study space for use by all staff and students, it is important that filming/photography activities do not impede quiet or silent study or cause any disruption to others using the library. Whilst we will try to accommodate such requests wherever possible, some requests may be refused or modified to meet with operational needs.
Please complete the request form and give a minimum of two-weeks' notice, prior to the potential filming date.
One of our members of the Learning and Library Resource team will contact you to discuss the request within five working days. We look forward to working with you to accommodate your needs and to help make your filming a success
