Compassionate Pedagogy

Compassionate Pedagogy is about creating a learning environment in a way that notices distress and disadvantage for all students and staff and actively seeks to reduce these barriers to learning.

The guidance that follows is organised across six pages. The first page explains how Compassionate Pedagogy can help with your students' wellbeing.  The following three pages offer practical tips for educators, brief summaries of external research and links to further readings across three main themes. The fourth and fifth pages support staff with further independent adaptations of Compassionate Pedagogy into their own educative contexts.

For Compassionate Pedagogy to be most effective it needs to be holistic and all-inclusive. We are aiming to enhance student by including all of our students, valuing the experiences each student brings, and removing barriers to success for all who have been excluded.
