Profile summary

I am a Principal Lecturer in accounting and finance. I am passionate about learning and teaching and believe that education has the power to transform lives.

I am Director of Undergraduate Learning and Teaching within the Business School and therefore have overall responsibility for all the undergraduate academic programmes. Prior to joining the Business School I spent 15 years in business in the pub retailing and brewing industry. My career included a variety of roles for national and regional companies latterly with senior management responsiblity for the Managed House department for Shepherd Neame, Britain's oldest brewer based in Kent. I draw on this experience to bring my teaching to life and ensure that it is relevant, up to date and embedded in the 'real world'.

Research and knowledge exchange

My research interests are centred on business education, the relationship between businesses and Business Schools and how these two types of organisation can work together to their mutual benefit. I am also currently carrying out research on assessment and feedback and students perceptions as to the value of feedback.

Teaching and subject expertise

My teaching is in Accounting and Finance with specific expertise in Management Accounting and Corporate Financial Management.
