Stephanie Martin: Bioscience

Stephanie Martin completed a 10 week paid internship in Bioscience, looking at the evolutionary relationships of tarantulas.

As part of the project, Stephanie spent a week at Venomtech, collecting samples of venom and haemolymph from tarantulas, for analysis. The aim is to produce a research paper and poster for presentation at a scientific conference.

Stephanie really enjoyed her internship experience at CCCU. As a first year student, she has acquired valuable skills that will help her in her second and third years of study, and she has also gained experience  that will prove useful when she comes to apply for jobs in the future.

'Venomtech have been very impressed with the whole process of finding and running a student internship with Canterbury Christ Church University. As an industrial partner it was imperative that the best student was selected and that the project met the company aims. This was a very successful project due to the skills and dedication of all involved and we fully expect the results to influence tarantula taxonomy when published.'
