Joe Ford: Environmental Science

Joe Ford completed a paid internship in Environmental Science, in which he analysed the properties of various forms of soil and compost.

Working under the supervision of Dr Chris Harvey, Joe measured the nutrient inflow and outflow across a whole range of soil and compost samples. From the outflow collected, Joe was able to measure the amount of nitrates,  phosphates and potassium and so judge which samples were better at holding nutrients, and therefore better for plants. 

As Joe says, this internship has been great for his C.V. He has been trained to use specialist equipment and has also gained additional labratory experience which will stand him in good stead for his future career.
