I chose to study Politics at Christ Church for a number of reasons: its great location, lots of disability support and interesting modules. My course was amazing and I loved every minute.

I am currently employed as the Parliamentary Assistant for Barry Gardiner, Member of Parliament for Brent North and Shadow Secretary of State for International Trade, Europe, Energy and Climate Change.

My degree prepared me for the political world by giving me the theoretical and practical expertise needed.  The lecturers introduced us to former students who were working in politics enabling us to ask questions to those with first-hand experience. In addition, skills such as time management, production of briefing documents, networking and research were enhanced with the support of staff. The range of modules aided me in choosing British Politics as my area of interest leading to my current career. In addition, I undertook two internships within the department which helped hone my research skills. We also had careers days which gave us opportunities to network with those working in the field.

I honestly don’t think I would be doing the job I am today without the support of staff and the subject matter of the course itself. My lecturers showed me that I could follow the path I wanted and supported me in doing so.
