Whilst we would usually be welcoming you to campus and you might be thinking about booking train travel or car parks, there's still plenty to get ready for the virtual format – but it might not be immediately obvious. We want you to get the most from a Virtual Open Day, so we have put together a list of five practical things you can do in advance.

We have virtual open events happening throughout the year, so recommend that you take a bit of time in advance to get ready using our top tips below!

1. Do some research

Seems obvious, right? But don't underestimate how important a bit of research is. We recommend that you look through our undergraduate courses and find the ones you'd like to learn more about. If you will need accommodation, take a look at what we can offer, and don't forget to find out about societies and wider student life.

2. Check out the open day timetable

We typically cover different subjects during our open events, sometimes over two days, so make sure you know when to attend to ensure you learn about what you would like to study. You are obviously welcome to come and go at any point during our virtual open days, depending on which sessions you'd like to attend.

3. Prepare your questions

Our Virtual Open Days have plenty of opportunities for you to ask your burning questions. Think of questions relating to the courses you are interested in – you will have the chance to speak to academics. Also think of practical and social questions, as current students will be on-hand for a chat.

4. Take a tour

The Virtual Open Days are a fantastic opportunity to get to know our courses and our people. They're also a great opportunity to get a feel for our locations. We highly recommend undertaking a virtual tour – something you could do in advance, or on the day. We'd also recommend reading why Canterbury and Medway are such great places for students.

5. Get a working area ready

Whether you're attending the Virtual Open Day on your PC, laptop, tablet or phone, it's worth getting a work station ready. Have something on-hand to write notes, have a drink and something to snack on with you, and check your internet connection!
