Who Cares About the University?

Across the Higher Education sector, staff and students are experiencing many contradictory things. Student satisfaction is presented as paramount, while the people involved in education and administration are scaled back. Mental health and wellbeing are rhetorically prioritised, yet precarious contracts and increased student monitoring provoke anxiety. Divisions are constructed between teachers and researchers, academics and administrators, lecturers and students - when the University can only work as a collaboration.

What is your experience of working and studying in Higher Education - and what can be done about it?

Members of the Sociology team are hosting a forum for colleagues and students from across the University to discuss some findings from our British Academy funded study of 'Generational Encounters in higher Education', and to share their own observations and experiences.
