CEFEUS team presented to the Kent County Council

On Thursday 5th October, the CEFEUS team presented to the Kent County Council Policy Team at their away day in Maidstone.

The presentation was largely based on the July 2017 report, Kent and Medway: Making a Success of Brexit, a sectoral analysis of SMEs and the Rural Economy. It was the latest in a long list of events with various groups of Kent County Council in a partnership which dates back to 2016.

The presentation allowed KCC staff the opportunity to ask questions specific to the report but also in general around Britain's departure from the European Union. A particularly topical issue was the role that the Council could play as businesses prepare for the departure, and how best to assist them to help minimise disruption.

Speaking after the presentation, Professor Amelia Hadfield, Director of CEFEUS, stated:

"We were delighted to be invited to speak to Kent County Council. In particular, I would like to express my warm thanks to David Whittle, and was pleased to have the opportunity to present the report and field questions from Local Government and finally, discuss ways of cooperation going forward at this challenging time."

The presentation was the latest in a string of recent appearances to both media and organisations as CEFEUS is now routinely called upon to discuss Brexit and present the findings, data and stakeholder gathering from previous reports. Finally, it allowed the opportunity to flag upcoming work, namely the sectoral analysis of Healthcare and the Border, within the scope of Customs, Policing Cooperation and Infrastructure.
