Profile summary

I am the Learning Developer for the Christ Church Business School and the School of Engineering, Technology and Design in the Faculty of Science, Engineering & Social Sciences. I work in collaboration with academic and professional staff to embed academic literacies within the curriculum and develop the study skills of students.

My undergraduate degree was awarded by the University for the Creative Arts in design and I developed my academic study through an MA in Film Studies at Newcastle University. I discovered an enjoyment for teaching when I worked in learning and engagement at a contemporary art gallery, through which I gained a postgraduate professional practice award in learning and engagement at Northumbria University. This motivated my teaching qualifications in Lifelong Learning and CELTA training at Newcastle College where I taught English Language, alongside a term lecturing in Film Studies at Sunderland University.

In 2014 I moved to Thailand and joined Thammasat University to teach business design as well as academic skills in the Faculty of Architecture. I developed courses in communication design and service design, and taught both academic and design skills across multiple faculties.

After four and a half years of teaching abroad, I returned to Kent bringing my experiences to CCCU. I continue to investigate the application of design principles and practices to teaching with the aim of developing innovative approaches to learning, teaching, and engagement. In 2020 I was awarded Certified Practitioner of Learning Development status by the Association for Learning Development in Higher Education.
