Currently Senior Lecturer on the Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) at Salomon's campus. I also have a private practice at the Tree of Life Centre in Hove, and teach chi gong at The Hive Hove. From time to time I run eight session Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) courses at 'Westwerks' in Hove. Previously I was a Senior Cognitive Behavioural Therapist at Aurora CBT, a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist at The Priory Hospital Brighton & Hove, and before that held the post of CBT Co-ordinator at The Priory Hospital North London, where I also set up and ran the first mindfulness courses in that institution. I trained in Oxford at what is now the Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre in the course of 1997, whilst working for Oxfordshire Mind in their drop-in day centre: Acorn, where I was an Assistant Co-ordinator for ten years. Before that I trained and worked as a junior school teacher, having previously studied religions at Lancaster and Oxford.
I am particularly interested in the overlap between CBT and mindfulness; how self-practice of both disciplines can help both learning and practice of therapy, and have been developing a theory of meta-perpective to show how different kinds of intervention can be complementary. I am also concerned to make/ keep CBT accessible to non-specialists, to which end I wrote my first book (The CBT-Pot).
