IARIA CYBER 2019 Conference

Computer Forensics and Security graduates attended an international conference on Cybersecurity, held 22-26 September in Portugal, to present their dissertation work.

During the summer, both Samuel Bates and Aimee Chamberlain spent many hours working with their supervisor, Dr Hannan Azhar, on improving their dissertation work to be sent off for publication.

While commenting on their success, Dr Hannan Azhar, Senior Lecturer in Computing stated,

"This demonstrates some of the best quality undergraduate dissertation work at CCCU. Both papers went through a strict peer-review process by internationally renowned academics and industry professionals and were finally accepted to be included in the Cyber 2019 proceeding, which is now publicly available. I am delighted to say that Sam received the 'Best Paper Award' at the conference."

Academic Papers presented:

  1. Comparisons of Forensic Tools to Recover Ephemeral Data from iOS Apps Used for Cyberbullying by Aimee Chamberlain, M A Hannan Bin Azhar
  2. Recovery of Forensic Artefacts from a Smart Home IoT Ecosystem by M A Hannan Bin Azhar, Samuel Benjamin Louis Bate

Attending the conference to present my work internationally and having it published was an amazing experience I certainly never expected to have had! Even more so when I initially worried I'd underperformed in my dissertation and had been dreading finding out the result, to then learn it was a highly marked piece and could be considered for publication!
