This talk seeks to analyse certain government level programmes that, it could be suggested, are contributing to suicide rates. By briefly looking at some key models that are used to understand disability, the UK Government's policies are critically challenged within geopolitical contexts. Quantitative and qualitative data are mined to excavate some disturbing realities affected and effectuated by the policies. Examples of how queering can be applied to policy and practice will point to clear examples of oppressive normativity at its very worst.
