Physical Education and Physical Activities
This module provides a practical and theoretical background to the field of study, affording you the opportunity to engage with curriculum, policy based issues and risk assessments in Physical Education and physical activity.
Teaching and Coaching across the Curriculum
This module looks at the similarities and differences between teaching and coaching in Physical Education, Physical Activity and Sports. You will develop knowledge and understanding of the role of the teacher and the coach in the physical environment.
Fundamental Movement and Activity for Physical Development
This module introduces you to concepts of motor and physical development; and physical literacy with particular reference to the growing child and how development influences their physical education, sports in the curricular and extracurricular setting.
Learning in Physical Education and School Sport
The aim of this module is to enable you to develop their knowledge and understanding of the learner in a physical education environment. You will consider relevant theories of learning and development and relate them to learning in physical education.
Foundations of Sports and Physical Activity for Health
This module will engage you with the theoretical and practical foundations of Sports, Physical Activity and Health-Related-Exercise at curricular and extracurricular levels. You will explore the value, benefits and content of Play, Leisure, Physical Education, Sports, Physical Activity and Health-Related-Exercise.
Leading and Managing Physical Education and School Sport
This module will enable you to reflect on your work place and to generate ideas to include all learners in physical activities. You will engage with theoretical frameworks and the planning, delivery and evaluation of an inclusive sports event in a primary school.
Year 2- Level 5 (120 Credits)
Pedagogical Models for Games
This module offers you the opportunity to engage with a range of pedagogical approaches. It will include knowledge and application of skills, techniques and tactics and experience of officiating “game” type physical activities.
Pedagogical Models for Physical Activity and Health
This module aims to enable you to develop a critical understanding of teaching and learning in Athletic, Outdoor & Adventurous, Swimming and Exercising Activities in the physical education curriculum.
Assessment in Physical Education and School Sport
This module will enable you to develop your understanding of the principles, modes and policies of assessment; and to develop a deeper understanding of the ways in which assessment and evaluation practices affect learning in physical education, sport and exercise.
Inclusion and Adapted Physical Activities
This module aims to introduce you to the policies of inclusion in education and the concept of adapted physical activity, and how these can be applied in physical education and physical activities.
Coaching in School and the Community
The module will take a holistic view of coaching which extends beyond improving the physical, technical and tactical skills of children. The nature and purpose of physical education and physical activities will be explored along with the role of the coach in the school context.
Physical Education and School Sport Project
The module aims to provide you with the opportunity to follow a sustained line of enquiry (guided by the module tutor) and produce a clear, structured and relevant academic report that relates theory to practice. The module aims to introduce you to literature reviews, different methods of data collection and data analysis which will support you in developing criticality in a chosen area of study.
