The BSc (Hons) in Economics and Finance course offers an opportunity to think beyond numbers, learn markets and instruments, and make a living on a global level. The course helps clarify challenges that affect everyone in the society, including cost of living, use of FinTech, and financing sustainable development.

Your Welcome Week is an essential introduction to your course and the wider University, helping you to feel confident and prepared for your studies right from the very start.
It is important to check your Course Welcome Week for all the activities you are required to attend as part of your course induction. If any of your welcome activities are in groups, your course team will contact you before you arrive to let you know which group you will be in.
In addition, check the Student Events Hub for a range of fun activities. including the Students’ Union Welcome Fair, to help you make friends and live your best CCCU student life.
Your teaching timetable
UniTimetables provides an overview of all teaching activities for a course. If your course is taught in groups, it will display information for all groups, not just the group you will be assigned to.
Your individual student timetable will show you what modules and groups you are expected to attend via MyTimetable. This will be available for when your teaching starts.

The BSc (Hons) Economics & Finance degree allows you to combine discipline-specific skills with a thorough understanding of the economic and financial challenges that confront contemporary society. You'll learn how to analyse and discuss important aspects of the subject, such as microeconomics, macroeconomics, financial markets and institutions, digital, ethical, and sustainable finance, as well as how to apply theoretical and empirical analysis to major economic and financial policy issues.
You'll also be exposed to a variety of cognitive and employability skills, graduate qualities, and insights into the workplace, as well as opportunities to build collaboration, leadership, organisational, presentation, and analytical abilities.
There is also the opportunity to undertake a Professional Placement between the 2nd and 3rd years of your degree. Our skilled academic and professional services team will be able to assist you in finding a placement that will provide you with hands-on business experience, but don't worry if you are unable to find a placement, you will just be able to progress to the final year of your degree.
You'll also be able to access our other resources, including the Bloomberg Terminal and other applications supporting your teaching and research in economics and finance.
CCCU is a caring and supportive community. As your Course Director, I will welcome you in person on your first day and with help from your lecturers, will guide you through the details of your course content. You will also make friends for life, as we make sure you have lots of opportunities to meet other students and have fun!
We care about developing your employability skills from day one. While your first graduate job may seem far in the future, it’s never too soon to start filling your graduate CV with social and professional activities and experiences. In your second year, you will spend time developing your professional identity as an Economics and Finance specialist (CV, LinkedIn, training for recruitment centres).
Importantly, we care about you as a person, your wellbeing, and your success. We make sure we have time for you, and we provide a large number of resources to support you with your finances, your mental health and your study skills. We will be with you every step of the way!

We care about you being at ease and confident about your studies and not worried. So, we have put in place a welcome week starting on the week of Monday 15th September 2025 with lots of activities for you to familiarise yourselves with the way we teach and the way we will mark your work and support you all the way through. Make sure you attend to start making friends!
On the social side, the Student Union (CCSU) has a huge range of clubs and societies – all of which have unique social calendars of their own and offer endless opportunities to make lifelong friends and discover new hobbies. And you can always create your own society and cultivate your own community!
CCSU will be hosting their Welcome Fayre on Wednesday 17th September 2025. Make sure you keep checking the CCSU website for further details and how to get involved.
