At Christ Church we want to empower our students to be and do their best and have an enjoyable and successful learning experience regardless of [dis]ability or difference. From 27 March to 2 April, we are raising awareness around World Autism Acceptance Week.

Support for autism

If you are an autistic or neurodiverse student at CCCU, the Student Disability team is available to offer support, advise and information on the following so you can achieve your academic potential:

Other resources to help you succeed:

  • The library has organized a range of amazing resources on the ground floor display for World Autism Acceptance Week beginning on 27 March.
  • The Learning Skills Hub offers a variety of online modules to help you develop your skills including a module that explores learning techniques for neurodiverse thinkers.
  • The Careers and Enterprise team are available to support you with applications and interviews for your next career opportunity, with the Careers and Enterprise Hub containing resources to support neurodiverse students.

Understanding Autism

As an inclusive University that supports a diverse community of students, we want to raise awareness, broaden understanding and increase acceptance of autistic or neurodiverse thinkers.

While Autism is a lifelong developmental disability which affects how people communicate and interact with the world, the term ‘Neurodiversity’ is a means of empowerment.

Expect Respect

Remember that Autism is a hidden disability. You don’t necessarily know who is neurodiverse or not. At CCCU, we Expect Respect and encourage everyone to be kind to your fellow students, show understanding and take responsibility for helping to create an inclusive and welcoming University.

The University and the Students’ Union believe all students, staff and visitors have the right to live, study and work in a safe and supportive environment free from discrimination, bullying or harassment of any form. If you experience or witness bullying or harassment you can report it anonymously or with contact details to get confidential support via the University’s online Support and Report tool.
