The 6th - 11th March is National Careers Week 2023, so we're sharing 5 steps that you can take to help you prepare for your future.

1. Discover the Careers and Enterprise Hub

Have you explored the Careers and Enterprise Online Hub yet? If not, now is the perfect opportunity! Here you can access free online resources such as Career Pulse (a tool to assess how employable you are and provide tips on next steps), gain inspiration for your degree opportunities, utilise CV360 and Interview360 and so much more!

Plus, don't forget the Careers and Enterprise Team are also here to support you through one-to-one career guidance appointments and through regular drop-in sessions.

Are you a CCCU Alumni? Access the Careers and Enterprise Hub for free online resources and tools, and join us for a range of events happening throughout National Careers Week 2023 (see the bottom of this article).

2. Develop your skills through Microsoft Office 365 Training

A great way to get prepared for your future is through improving your IT skills to help you succeed in today's technologically evolving world. Through the Microsoft Academy you can gain free additional qualifications, and add Microsoft Office Specialist to your CV. Discover the range of Microsoft Workshops and get started today.

3. Gain experience through earning while you learn

Are you looking for a way to gain work experience while earning money alongside your studies? Unitemps are here to help! Register with our recruitment service for job alerts on a range of different opportunities, or get browsing the current vacancies now.

One of the most popular opportunities is becoming a student ambassador. Give back to the community, inspire other students, develop your employability skills, and have a job which earns you money whilst fitting around your studies. You could assist with recruitment events, make a difference with the Schools and College Engagement Team, or inspire other students as a Subject Ambassador... Or try them all!

4. Maximise your student life and get involved!

Did you know that taking part in extra-curricular activities beyond your studies not only enriches your overall university experience, but also helps prepare you for the future? You can become an active part of the community, gain confidence, make connections, develop skills and so much more - all of which looks great on your CV and provides examples for future job interviews. Looking for more inspiration? Why not read this article on 3 reasons why you should get involved.

5. Create an engaging LinkedIn profile

After gaining experience through getting involved in student life and finding part-time work, as well as developing your skills through the Careers and Enterprise Hub and Microsoft Training, you'll now need a place to showcase it all! LinkedIn is like an online CV where you can highlight all your skills, achievements, and knowledge. It's a great place to network, job search, and build a professional community. And if you're looking for support in developing your profile, or starting one from scratch, then the Careers and Enterprise Team can help. Come along to a LinkedIn workshop during National Careers Week on Thursday 9 March where the team can answer your questions and help make your profile the best it can be!
