Mental Health

The mental health research hub is a multi-disciplinary group focused on examining the mental health care and wellbeing of service users, carers, social networks and the services people receive. This involves working with a wide group of individuals and groups such as people with; a formal mental health diagnosis, drug and alcohol problems, a learning disability or dementia. The work undertaken in the hub includes looking at interventional approaches, individual experiences, evaluation of services and theoretical explorations of mental health topics.

Ecotherapy Interventions for Mental Health

This project looks at the impact of ecotheraoy interventions for mental health. The project aimed to explore the facilitators and barriers to engagement in Social and Therapeutic Horticulture.

The Suicide Prevention Project

This project looked at the numbers of suicides committed in prison. The group aimed to address the recent rise in suicides at Elmley Prison in Kent through the use of Suicide Awareness Training for prison staff.

This research looked into recent cases of sexually inappropriate behaviour by health and social care professionals which have been taken through two of the major regulatory bodies.
