CCCU is looking to appoint a dynamic individual as our next Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost, who will be responsible for strategic and operational leadership for academic planning and delivery, and for leading and coordinating key University-wide strategic and transformational projects.

Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) is a modern, innovative University which has enjoyed an impressive period of growth and development since acquiring full university status in 2005. With an annual income of over £300m and 1,800 staff, it is a broad-based University offering to its 26,000 students a wide range of programmes across business, health, medicine, education, arts and humanities, social sciences, law, and STEM subjects.

The impact of its research and enterprise is felt nationally and internationally, as recognised by the recent national Research Excellence Framework and the Knowledge Exchange Framework. CCCU has one of the best records for graduates in employment in the UK - ranking number one in the 2023 Graduate Outcomes survey. Meeting the business and employment needs of regional employers and beyond, the University is also one of the largest providers of education, training and skills to public services in the South East. In addition, Canterbury Christ Church is a widening participation institution.

We are now looking to appoint a dynamic individual as our next Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost. They will be responsible for strategic and operational leadership for academic planning and delivery and for leading and coordinating key University-wide strategic and transformational projects. The post-holder will line-manage the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education and Student Experience), the three Pro Vice-Chancellor/Deans of Faculty, and the Chief Information Officer. They will be responsible for the ongoing co-ordination of their work including ensuring alignment between academic and financial objectives.

The appointee will deputise for the Vice-Chancellor when necessary, and work closely with, and be a key member of, the Senior Management Team (SMT) contributing to the strategic direction and development of the University as a whole.

The successful applicant will be joining the University at an exciting time in our proud history. Our strategic framework - Vision 2030, places sustainable futures and our students at its heart, and there is a real sense of optimism as we further develop our vision for the future. We are seeking a strategic academic leader with a track record of successful and collaborative leadership at relevant scale, who shares our ambition for Canterbury Christ Church as well as our values, and who can bring astute and creative thinking in helping shape our future, looking both to the external environment as well as our strengths as an institution.
