Clean Sport at Christ Church

SportsLab are currently involved in a project with UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) to gain recognition as a Clean Sport Accredited Institution. This exciting opportunity demonstrates the role of CCCU to act as a standard-bearer for clean sport, by providing essential anti-doping education as well as a clean sporting environment to train and compete for all those involved in Sport at CCCU.

The Project

As part of the project, CCCU are working in conjunction with Christ Church Sport and the Students' Union, CCSU, to promote the ethos of clean sport in the culture, policies, practices, research and education across the university. SportsLab aims to offer anti-doping education to CCCU students and staff, sports scholars, athletes and teams we work with, prospective students and talented young athletes, as well as coaches and other personnel involved in sport at CCCU.

Anti-doping at CCCU

All sporting participants have the right to compete in Clean Sport.

Canterbury Christ Church University adopts the UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) and World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) position that cheating, including doping, in sport is fundamentally contrary to the spirit of sport undermining the otherwise positive impact of sport on society.

You can read all of the ways that CCCU has committed to supporting clean sport in the UK by downloading our Clean Sport Commitment Statement.

If your sports club or organisation would like a workshop around a topic that doesn’t appear in our workshop list, please feel free to contact us to arrange.

Workshops

Each year, the SportsLab team deliver anti-doping education to athletes on the CCCU sports scholarship programme, young athletes on the TASS scheme, and within the curriculum of Sport and Exercise Science students.

We are also putting on workshops to sports coaches, as well as some FREE open sessions to Students and Staff at CCCU who would like to learn more about anti-doping in sport and how we are working to maintain a clean sport environment. Keep an eye out on Twitter and around the university for dates and times of upcoming events.

100% Me

100% is an initiative from UK anti-doping that supports and educates athletes throughout their careers about the values of clean sport. It’s about being a true athlete, and being able to say that your performance is a product of your own hard work, determination, Passion, Respect and Integrity.

Find out more information, and access useful resources via the athlete zone on the UKAD website.

You will be able to find out which substances and methods are on the prohibited list, learn about the concept of Strict Liability, and find out how to use resources such as Informed Sport and Global Dro, to check the contents of supplements and medications, and to ensure that as an athlete you are training and competing within the rules, and upholding the values of clean sport.
