Dr Simon Prince

Based in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Education

Simon was an undergraduate and postgraduate history student at St John’s College, University of Cambridge. His supervisors were Professor Peter Clarke and Professor Robert Tombs. Since completing his PhD in 2005, Simon has held posts at the University of Oxford, Queen’s University Belfast and King’s College London. He joined the Department of History and American Studies in September 2012.

Simon is also happy to supervise final year individual studies on topics to do with British and European post-war history.

Simon’s research interests span several overlapping fields within contemporary British, Irish and Global history. He is particularly concerned with how relations between the local, national and transnational shaped protest movements and the production of violence. Simon teaches modern British and European history.
