We care about you being at ease and confident about your studies and not worried. So, we have put in place a welcome week starting on the week of Monday 16th September 2024 with lots of activities for you to familiarise yourselves with the way we teach and the way we will mark your work and support you all the way through. Make sure you attend to start making friends!

 

Community

On the social side, the Student Union (CCSU) has a huge range of clubs and societies – all of which have unique social calendars of their own and offer endless opportunities to make lifelong friends and discover new hobbies. And you can always create your own society and cultivate your own community!

CCSU will be hosting their Welcome Fayre on Wednesday 18th September 2024. Make sure you keep checking the CCSU website for further details and how to get involved.

We understand that you may be nervous about your first few weeks on campus but rest assured - you'll be joining a nurturing and supportive environment where diversity, equality and individuality are part of everything we do.

To prepare for seminars, it is important that you are aware of current issues within the tourism industry. The global tourism industry has been in a crisis in the last couple of years due to the pandemic, but the world is beginning to adapt and learn to live with coronavirus. To bring yourself up to date and able to contribute to the discussions we will have, please familiarise yourself with the following:

• United National World Tourism Organisation (UNTWO)
• Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA)
• Visit Britain
• Visit Kent
• Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA)

All of the above have detailed reports about what is happening in the tourism industry and how it is quickly recovering. What is going to be very interesting is that we will be able to discuss and monitor this in real time. The above sites also have reports on many other aspects of tourism such as sustainability, heritage, poverty alleviation, climate change and current trends. Please do look at them too.
