Your individual student timetable will show you what modules and groups you are expected to attend via MyTimetable. This will be available for when your teaching starts.

Welcome

Welcome to Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) and to the beginning of your BSc Human Resource Management (HRM) course at Christ Church Business School! We have no doubt that you have made the right choice, and we will be with you every step of the way during the next three or four years of your study. As Human Resource Management students, you will be immersed in a world of people management studies that enable you to explore, acquire, and develop skills and knowledge relevant for managing organisations’ most important assets – the people.

Christ Church Business School is a caring and supportive community. As your course Director, I will welcome you in person on your first day and your lecturers will guide you through the details of your course content. You will also make friends for life, as we make sure you have lots of opportunities to meet other students and have fun!

Employability

We care about developing your employability skills from day one. While your first graduate job may seem far in the future, it’s never too soon to start filling your graduate CV with social and professional activities and experiences. In your second year, you will spend a whole semester on developing your professional identity as a HR specialist (CV, LinkedIn, training for recruitment centres).

For example: Our former student, Kelly, is now HR manager at an Engineering Management Consultancy in Kent, England and our former student, Olga, is now a recruitment consultant at a local recruitment agency in Canterbury, Kent, England. They often visit the university to talk to our current undergraduates about HRM.

Check out Kelly’s Linkedin profile.

Furthermore, all students of our course have the option to do a year placement between their second year and final year.

“I’m really enjoying my placement and the opportunity to apply myself to tasks that I would otherwise have very little experience in” – Simon (Placement Student)

Support & Wellbeing

Importantly, we care about you as a person, your wellbeing, and your success. We make sure we have time for you, and we provide a large number of resources to support you with your finances, your mental health and your study skills. We will be with you every step of the way!

“The staff are very friendly and are always available if you need a chat. Furthermore, the staff come from varying backgrounds with different life experience which can be reflected in their teaching.”

Getting started

Starting university can be daunting but fret not as this is completely normal. We understand that you have made a big step to achieving your future goals investing time, money, and energy to this degree.

Pre-course reading

It is very good practice to understand the news and what is happening in the world. It will help with your studies and it will help you perform better at interview. Why not start by spending five minutes each day reading BBC Business News? Then, when you get to the Business School, you can make the most of your free subscription to the Financial Times.

Given that you have worked very hard to get into University, we recommend that you use the summer to prepare yourself for your transition to higher education and take some time to relax and rejuvenate.
