Welcome to Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU), Salomons Institute for Applied Psychology, PGCert Clinical Neuropsychology Practice. We look forward to seeing you online. We designed this course to support you through gaining the specialist practical competencies in clinical neuropsychology to allow entry onto the BPS Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists. The course aims to be accessible, efficient, and flexible, whilst meeting national standards of accreditation. Being an online course, it supports the reality of most professionals: that you may be full- time employed, have a family, caring responsibilities, other commitments, or all or any combination of these.

Welcome

The knowledge and competency base in clinical neuropsychology is very, very large, and having been accepted onto this course it is expected that you already have specialist training in neuropsychology as you will have completed the knowledge component for the SRCN. As such the course aim is to enhance your existing competencies and skills as a practitioner psychologist and build upon your specialist neuropsychology knowledge base. The course focuses on clinical work via case-based skills workshops to convey the competency aspects of clinical neuropsychology practice.

The course will take place in consecutive 15-week trimesters. You should expect to dedicate 6-8 hours per week to teaching, learning and case logging activities. Your learning materials are presented via the course blackboard pages and will be a combination of online live case workshops, web-based reading, and resource material. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Getting started

In September there is a videoconference orientation to attend, in which you will be introduced to the basic learning design and structure of the course, and the use of Blackboard (i.e., the online learning platform), and other aspects of the CCCU virtual learning environment (VLE). You will have an opportunity to meet and start to get to know your cohort, or ‘online learning community.’ You will also learn about the library, e-resources, and other learning and support services the university offers.
