Building 1Creative Arts Building

21st Century Arts on a Medieval site

Our new Creative Arts building will support and inspire the next generation of artistic professionals. The bold design celebrates the historic foundations of our campus site, exposing sections of the original St Augustine’s Abbey wall beneath a glass floor. Spaces flooded with natural light will be fitted with the latest digital facilities to support creative work. We’re creating a vibrant digital learning culture where students can generate and share ideas.

Our Vision

Digital, Social, Professional

On the ground floor there’s plenty of sociable space, perfect for exhibitions and intimate gigs.

On the levels above there’s a central Reading Room providing space for students’ social learning and study alongside modern specialist facilities including rehearsal and performance rooms, recording and sound studios, dark rooms and Mac labs that complement existing spaces across the campus.

Creative teams bring expert individuals with different specialist skills together to collaborate on projects. We’re encouraging this kind of teamwork by locating students studying a range of Media, Music, Film, and Design courses together. The new Creative Arts Building joins existing facilities within the Powell and Maxwell-Davies buildings to make our campus a place where creative partnerships flourish.
