This March, the Library and Learning Resources Team and The Academy for Sustainable Futures will be hosting a range of practical sustainable activities and sharing stories of hope to inspire you.

Do you feel worried or angry about climate change? More and more of us do and it’s a completely natural response. However, it’s important not to let these emotions overwhelm us and impact our mental health. That’s why the Library and Learning Resources Team and The Academy for Sustainable Futures are focusing their March events on the theme of eco hope.

Get involved!

This month we want to inspire you to get involved with as much as possible - from upcycling to attending a talk, and litter picking to entering our competition.

Eco Hope themed StressLess

Join the Library Team for their Eco Hope themed StressLess events, happening weekly throughout March. Here you can try your hand at upcycling, and give something a second life. You could create a bird feeder from a plastic bottle, paint old glassware, use fabric paint on old clothing, and much more!

You may also find you want to take positive action and help make a difference. The Library Team will be offering a 'Dear Earth' letter writing activity, information on petitions you can sign, and providing inspiring Ted Talks you can watch.

Eco Hope Competition

A photo competition will be running throughout March encouraging students to share photos that provide hope for the future. These photos will become part of the Library's Eco Hope display on the second floor of Augustine House.

A winner will be selected at the end of the month and win a selection of sustainable, eco-friendly and upcycled goodies. More information coming soon...

Refillable Van and Veg Box Project

Do you want to reduce plastic waste? Why not try refilling! The Refillable Van is your local mobile zero-waste shop that visits campus the last Thursday of every month at Augustine House from 11.30am - 12.30pm and Verena Holmes from 1 - 4pm.

Plus you can also also stock up on locally-grown, organic produce with The Veg Box Project - delivered to Canterbury Campus every fortnight.

Also remember to check out our regular sustainability events whether it is the Potter and Prune in the Johnson Garden, Student Green Office Pop-Ups, Carbon Literacy Training, film screenings or open lectures - there are so many ways to get involved, learn more and make a difference!
