In my last year of secondary school, I was uncertain about what I wanted to do when I left. I felt that the only reason I would apply to go to university was because I would be the first in the family and wanted to make them proud, but I wasn’t doing it for myself.

However, over the next couple of years of focusing solely on Drama at Mid Kent College, it reminded me of why I love what I do and that I did want to go to university. The passion that I have for drama motivated me to succeed and gain experience, so university was the best option for me and I have not looked back since.

Christ Church was one of the only universities that I really wanted to go to, and when I attended an Open Day, that feeling was confirmed for me. Walking around the campus made me feel relaxed and I could really see myself being there.

The course offered a variety of modules and that was a main factor of interest for me, I wanted to get the most out of my time at University and I felt that Christ Church could offer that to me, and it did.

My overall experience of my course was great, every year bought something new to learn and without that, I would not be where I am today.

Being in higher education has certainly changed my aspirations and made me think differently about all possibilities for my future. Although I did not make it on to the stage as initially planned, I am still heavily involved within the arts and will continue to succeed on this chosen path.

Canterbury Christ Church University has helped me to establish myself as a young professional with a set of valuable skills that have helped me to secure my first important role within the industry. Each day I am learning something new, and this will help me when taking the next step in my career.

Without studying at Christ Church, I would not have made contacts in the Canterbury Arts Festival or had the chance to demonstrate my abilities.
