Our engineering facilities allow you to unlock your potential and build technical expertise, so you can become a highly-skilled, work-ready engineering graduate. Researchers will appreciate the range of advanced facilities and the opportunities for collaborative working this state-of-the-art building provides.

The Verena Holmes Building

The latest addition to our campus is the incredible Verena Holmes Building that includes a full set of engineering labs to aid the study of our engineering students.

Engineering workshop

Our Verena Holmes Building, opened in January 2021, has created new spaces and facilities for engineering students, as well as being home to facilities for health, sport, technology, and medicine.

Mechatronics lab

We are living in an age of rapid technological change where so much of what affects our lives has been engineered. Students have access to more facilities than ever, including the innovative mechatronics lab.

Makerspace

Within the Verena Holmes Building, each internal courtyard space becomes an open plan interactive workshop ‘Makerspace’ for collaborative learning and experimentation. These courtyards are integral to the natural ventilation strategy, allowing the building to be more sustainable.

Mechanical Physics lab

Here, our students develop a practical problem-solving approach through active learning laboratories, engineering laboratories, and the use of engineering workshops and makerspace.
