Coming to university is a leap of faith. However, our top priority is, and always has been, your child’s safety and wellbeing during their studies.

SafeZone app

SafeZone is a free safety app for all students whilst at CCCU They can use it to alert the Security team via their mobile phone if they need urgent assistance, first aid, or if they have an emergency on campus.

Whether your child is travelling around campus or walking home late at night, they can use the app to simply check-in or alert our security team 24/7. There are three main buttons for alerting for assistance: first aid, enquiries, and emergencies. The app can also be used to report any disturbances such as loud noises or anti-social behaviour either in their accommodation or on campus.

Social activities

You’ll be well aware that one of the big attractions of coming to university for many students is the social life. Making new friends and creating support networks is a big part of the university experience.

We offer both in-person and online activities that will help your child build a network of friends from day one. Restaurants, shops, pubs and bars are also thriving around our locations, and we are very lucky that in both Canterbury and Medway, there are parks and open spaces that promote outdoor socialising.

Our Students' Union is also thriving. With a huge range of societies to join, your child will have loads of opportunities to meet like-minded people in a safe and fun environment. Our SU is an independently run charity that supports all of our students.

This is the place for your child to get involved with volunteering, student voice, and sports. There is a wealth of activities to choose from to help your child make friends and get involved with a variety of events that are always happening around campus.

What's more, we encourage all of our students to get involved in some form of sport. Whether your child is an athlete or an absolute beginner, joining in in sports events or exercise will not only be a great place to meet new people, but is fantastic for both their mental and physical health. From group sports to individual activities, Sport and Active Health offer a wealth of options to get your child involved in all kinds of sports and exercise.

Supporting your child to succeed

As well as health, safety, and wellbeing, we continue to be committed to providing support in all aspects of student life to your child. This includes mental health, money, study, work, and more.

As a university with a close-knit, inclusive community and an open-door policy, we are proud of our support services. We ensure that all of our students are fully supported from day one of joining us, and we will ensure that your child is both seen and heard throughout their time with us at CCCU.

Have a look at our dedicated area of the website around supporting your child to succeed to find out what’s on offer and how your child can engage with our support services.
