Getting the most from your open day.

Visiting one of our Open Days is a great way to really get to know us here at Christ Church and get a feel for the place. We want to make sure you take full advantage of the day, so to help you we've put together some useful hints and tips.

Before you arrive

Plan your journey

Take a look at our find us pages, whether you're travelling by train, bus or car they'll give you directions on the best way to get to our Canterbury and Medway campuses.

You can also download a map of each campus, so you can familiarise yourself with the layout before you get here.

Make an itinerary

There's lots to see and do at an Open Day so creating an itinerary in advance will help you make the most of your visit. Use your Open Day programme, which will be sent to you before the event, to check what talks, tours and activities are happening. Our Open Day app allows you to build your own itinerary, so you won't miss a thing.

Things to bring

After you have booked an Open Day, we'll email you an individual QR code. It'll also be sent to you in the post, along with a programme of activities. When you arrive, have your code to hand as it will enable our Student Ambassadors to check you in more quickly at our registration desks.

On the Day

Visit subject area stands

Speak to the lecturers who will be teaching your subject and learn more about the course you are interested in. Ask questions and gain as much information as you need.

Questions you could ask:

  • What does the course cover - what modules does it include?
  • What assessment methods are used?
  • What's the split between lectures, tutorials and self-directed study?
  • Are there any extra opportunities around my subject, such as workshops or placements?
  • What careers support is there and where could my degree lead me?

Meet our student support teams

Staff from our student services will be there to speak to at a range of stands. You can get information on a wide variety of topics, from student loans, grants and bursaries to counselling, health and wellbeing Our teams will be able to give advice on what you can access as a student.

Take a campus tour

See what the University is like first hand by joining a student-led campus tour. It'll take you around the grounds and buildings so you can see our study and leisure facilities, such as our St George's Centre, where students live, study and socialise, our performing arts studios, sports labs and music rehearsal rooms.

View the facilities

Make sure you take a look at the specialist resources and equipment that are available in your area of interest. Take a tour or drop in during a timed session to view our award winning library, science labs, the Christ Church Business School trading floor, Sports Centre and more.

Speak to current students

Ask our Student Ambassadors questions, they'll be on hand to give directions, run tours and chat to you. It's a great way to find out what it's really like to study and live here. They'll be wearing red t shirts so you can't miss them!

Questions you could ask:

  • How have you found your course so far?
  • What's the teaching/facilities/support like?
  • What's the best thing about Christ Church for you?
