Depending on whether you are looking to study an undergraduate or postgraduate course, there are different ways to apply.

If you are looking to study at an undergraduate level, you can find out about the application process on the Information for Undergraduates page.

Our Information for Postgraduates page explains how to apply for one of these courses.

After you have applied

We treat each application we receive on an individual basis. This means that your application might take longer or shorter to review. However, we will always try our best to keep you updated on the progress.

Below is an outline of what happens next after you have submitted your application.

After we have received your application, we'll assess your suitability for the course. We will consider:

  • your education history
  • academic and language qualifications
  • any business experience
  • references
  • your personal statement.

Some courses will require an interview. These are carried out online, typically using Microsoft Teams which can be accessed via a computer, tablet, or smartphone.

We will send you all of the information you need before your interview. More information can be found on our How to Prepare for an Interview page

If your application is successful we will send you an offer. This will be marked conditional or unconditional. All offers are sent to you by email. If you have applied through an in-country representative, it will be sent to them.

  • Conditional offer: A conditional offer means that your application is not complete because it is waiting for you to supply more information. The offer may be made on the condition that you achieve certain grades or qualifications. There may be crucial information missing, such as the result of an English language test. When the missing information is supplied, we can make your offer unconditional. If you have any questions about your offer, please email ugadmissions@canterbury.ac.uk (for indergraduate courses) or pgadmissions@canterbury.ac.uk (for postgraduate courses).
  • Unconditional offer: An unconditional offer means there are no more conditions for you to meet. The offer is yours if you would like to accept it.

You must formally accept our offer by following the instructions in your offer email.

If you have any questions, please email ugadmissions@canterbury.ac.uk (for indergraduate courses) or pgadmissions@canterbury.ac.uk (for postgraduate courses).

The University will issue you with a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) number when you have accepted your unconditional offer and paid the tuition fee deposit, if required.

A CAS is a virtual document that the UK Home Office will view through a secure online system when you make your application for a Student Route visa. You will need your CAS number to make your visa application.

If you need help with your Visa application, CAS, or other immigration-related issues, please email us at Compliance@canterbury.ac.uk.

Once you have received your CAS number you should apply for your visa. This will allow you to travel to and study in the UK. Read about the process on our visa and immigration pages

If you need help with your visa application, CAS or other immigration-related issues, please contact us at Compliance@canterbury.ac.uk.
