For insurance to housekeeping we have your needs catered for.

Staying in our university accommodation is safe with 24-hour security on hand but sometimes unexpected things happen. Working in partnership with Endsleigh, we provide insurance cover for room contents inside university accommodation.

The following items are covered if they are lost due to fire, theft or flood:

  • laptops and tablets
  • audio and video equipment
  • games consoles
  • musical instruments and sports equipment
  • photographic equipment
  • valuables and jewellery

For further information:

It is in everyone’s interests to maintain a clean, hygienic and safe environment. All residents are responsible for the cleanliness of their own bedrooms and ensuite rooms.

For urgent issues, call Housekeeping on 01227 922235 or email housekeeping@canterbury.ac.uk.

For window cleaning services, please email facilities-helpdesk@canterbury.ac.uk

In the first few weeks, many new students make a friend in another part of the campus or, due to homesickness, feel they aren’t fitting in with their flatmates and want to move rooms. These feelings often pass, so we usually advise you to try and allow a couple of weeks’ settling-in time.

We try to discourage transfers between rooms, flats or houses during the first couple of weeks of term as, in our experience, you’ll find that you settle in if you give it a bit more time.

In certain circumstances, though, at the discretion of the Accommodation team, you may be able to move rooms. Contact accommodation@canterbury.ac.uk to discuss your situation with us.

Move Request

Please complete this form if you would like to request a room move.

If you feel like you are in need of further support, please get in touch with the student support advisers. They are able to provide access to support services and can either be contacted via email, telephone, or by attending one of their drop-in sessions.

Withdrawal Request

Please complete this request form if you’d like to leave your accommodation early and are withdrawing from Canterbury Christ Church University or if you’re formally interrupting your studies.

Losing your keys or access card can be stressful, so it’s a good idea to keep them secure and remove the key tag, which identifies your address.

If you lose your keys/access card, please contact a Security Reception on  01227 922111 immediately.

They’ll be able to help you get a replacement (costing up to £80) and organise changing a lock if necessary (there may be an additional charge).

If you lose a fob for on-site parking, you should also contact a Security Reception. They will help you and advise any costs for a replacement.

See the University Accommodation Licence Agreement for more information about your responsibilities.

At Canterbury Christ Church University, our priority is protecting the health, safety and wellbeing of our residents.

  • Fire safety is every resident’s responsibility. This is clearly outlined in your Accommodation Licence Agreement (particularly section ‘C.6’) and the Accommodation Student Handbook (particularly section ‘Health and safety in accommodation’).
  • Please take the time to watch our fire safety video. This gives essential information on how you can keep yourself and fellow residents safe in our accommodation.
  • Report any fire safety breaches to security on your site or via phone on 01227 922355 in order to help keep you and other residents safe.

The following table outlines the defined list of unsafe behaviours and staged level of penalties for breaching fire, health and safety requirements within the Accommodation Licence Agreement.
