Replacement certificate or transcript

Many former students are able to request duplicate or replacement copies of their award documents.

Duplicate or replacement award certificates

Copies of award certificates are available to order by former students who have mislaid the original or require a duplicate for some other reason.

These cost £25 and can be ordered via the University online shop. Please note: you cannot order duplicates until your original certificate has been issued to you.

Your replacement certificate will be sent to you within 28 days of your payment.

If you attended the University before 1992, please instead contact the i-zone on 01227 922222 or email i-zone@canterbury.ac.uk as you will need to apply to a different institution. This is because pre-1992 our awards were validated by different institutions.

Our target response times for replacement certificates are:

Certificate:
1992 onwards
28 days
Certificate: pre-1992 Please contact the i-zone as you will need to apply to a different institution.

Duplicate or replacement academic transcripts

An academic transcript is a full record of your university achievements, including academic results (module titles and marks, together with the final award title and classification where applicable) and some non-award related, e.g. modules for modern foreign languages you have studied alongside your course.

For most students who studied after 2012, academic transcripts have been in the format of a Higher Education Achievement Record (HEAR).

Most CCCU students whose studies end after spring 2023 are able to access their HEAR digitally via Gradintelligence’s Higher Education Achievement Report services. This means you can access your HEAR anytime, and share it online with prospective employers and education providers, so you never need to order a duplicate or replacement. More about digital HEARs via Gradintelligence.

Between 2012-22, HEARs were issued in a hard copy format. You can order a replacement for your hard copy HEAR via the University online shop.; this costs £10 (plus £2 for any additional copies ordered at the same time).

Our target response times for replacement academic transcripts are:

Standard academic transcript: 2012 onwards 28 days
Standard academic transcript 2001-2011 2 months
Standard academic transcript: pre-2000 3 months (if available)

Please note that it may not be possible to produce an academic transcript for students who studied at Canterbury Christ Church University prior to 2001, when our current electronic student records system was introduced.

Extended academic transcripts

In exceptional cases, such as for students who are seeking to emigrate, and practise some registered professions such as nursing or teaching abroad, you may need an extended transcript. This is a hard copy document that expands on the information in a standard transcript.

You can order an extended transcript costing £35 (plus £5 for any additional copies ordered at the same time) via the University online shop.

Our target response times for extended transcripts are:

Extended academic transcript: 2012 onwards 28 days
Extended academic transcript: 2001-2011 2 months
Extended academic transcript: 1992-2000 3 months (if available)
Extended academic transcript: pre-1992 N/A due to non-availability of digital student record

Please note that we revalidate our courses regularly to ensure their academic quality, and in line with data protection and document retention guidelines, the University retains previous course and module specifications documents for 7 years. This means we do not always have copies of older course and module documents and it may not be possible to produce an extended transcript for students who studied more than 7 years ago.
