Cycling to Campus
The University is committed to sustainable travel and to providing adequate facilities for cyclists.
Canterbury Campus, North Holmes Road
- 20 behind and adjacent to Maxwell-Davies
- 76 at the entrance to Laud
- 24 by the entrance to the Sports Lab in Anselm for up
- 22 behind Old Sessions House
There is secure cycle storage facility at John Caddell Walk (leading from main campus to Old Sessions House), where there are 6 stands. There are also 7 uncovered stands opposite Becket near Gate 1 and 4 adjacent to the entrance of Somerville.
There are a number of cycle lockers: blue for use on a daily basis, and green for longer-term hire up to 48 weeks. They are situated behind Old Sessions House and also behind Maxwell-Davies building, by the Postern Gate pedestrian entrance. You can use your own padlock for the blue lockers, but you cycle must be removed by the end of each day. To use the green lockers on a long-term basis, you must go to the Security Lodge in Anselm to request a key and complete the necessary application form.
Male and female showers and some changing rooms are located across all campuses. For location check the campus digital maps.
CCCU Sports Centre
There is a covered cycling rack to accommodate up to 20 bicycles and there is also a secure bike shed for use by members and Sports Centre users only. For security purposes this shed is kept locked and requires a code to access it. Staff at the Sports Centre Reception can provide you with the code on the day.
There are covered cycle stands for approximately 10 bikes and there is also a shower on the first floor.
There is a cycle shed adjoining Rowan William Court with Sheffield stands for 8 bicycles. There are changing facilities and showers in the Sports Hall, available from 9am Monday, Thursday and Friday and from 10am on Tuesday and Wednesday. A key can be signed out from Reception.
