Masters in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Our Masters in Psychological Therapies: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy allows graduates of the Postgraduate Diploma to further their interest in CBT with a research-based qualification. This is a part-time programme lasting 18 months, entry to which is open to individuals holding a PgDip in CBT that comprises a clinical practice qualification from CCCU or any other UK University.
The programme consists of two modules, which are designed around learning outcomes that provide students with the essential skills for undertaking effective research. Module 1 centres on the conception, design and writing of a research proposal for an original project with relevance to CBT. Module 2 involves the student conducting the research: obtaining ethical approval, gathering and analysing data, and interpreting results, culminating in writing a research thesis.
The teaching uses a step-by-step, case-example approach, enabling students to build research skills with immediate ‘real life’ applicability. These are transferable skills that can be applied across settings and sectors, and which are needed by employers or in further postgraduate study. The majority of the class-room based teaching is delivered in Term 1. There are 10 teaching sessions during Module 1, whilst the teaching in Module 2 is mostly via 1:1 research supervision with an experienced member of staff. Students are closely supported through the whole research process with a minimum of 15 hours personal supervision.
The fee for the Masters programme is £4,500 (subject to change).
