Computing Bristol trip

Trip to Bristol Science Centre

Computing students recently enjoyed a trip to the Bristol Science Centre.

Computing Bristol trip, star constellations

There were hundreds of interactive exhibits at the centre for everyone to join in with. The exhibits were very well laid out with lots of room round each activity. The 3D planetarium show in particular was spectacular, and students  were able to get a close-up view of the winter night sky during the day.

To be able to fly to the giant Jupiter or observe the lives of stars in ultra hi-definition was absolutely amazing. The display is powered by a super computer and is among the most advanced immersive technologies currently available in the UK. The planetarium was  the outcome of the ‘Bristol is open’ project to make Bristol as world’s first open programmable city.
