Profile summary

Dr. Asma Ahmed joined CCCU in January 2019. She has a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Oklahoma State University (U.S.A), with experience in both industry and academia. At Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, a biopharmaceutical company, Dr. Ahmed worked on process development and technology transfer for production of monoclonal antibodies. After about five years of working in the industry, she joined the Department of Chemical Engineering in Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus, India). At BITS, she taught undergraduate and graduate level courses and worked on multiple sponsored research projects in the areas of biological conversion of agricultural and industrial wastes and wastewater to biofuels and value added products.

  • Growth, characterization and application of non-pathogenic fungal biofilms
  • Biological treatment of industrial effluents
  • Biofuels and value-added products from agricultural and industrial wastes using microbial processes
