Dr Swain joined Christ Church University in 2005 to develop motor learning, skill acquisition and coaching modules in the Section of Sport and Exercise Sciences having previously worked at the University of Chichester. He is interested in handedness and non-dominant transfer effects on sport performance.
Research and knowledge exchange
Dr Swain has provided consultancy services for several sports bodies including the World Squash Federation, England Squash, British Shooting and he is a LTA licenced+ tennis coach. He has also presented a range of skill acquisition topics for Kent Coaching Network and KentSport and is a Sport Coach UK Talent Foundation tutor.

Dr Swain is the head CCCU tennis coach for the university teams and contributes to the Polo Farm Junior Performance Programme.
