The ICA Commission on the History of Cartography, the ICA Commission on Topographic Mapping and the Bodleian Libraries of the University of Oxford warmly invite you to their joint international symposium ‘Mapping Empires – Colonial Cartographies of Land and Sea’.

Join us for the ICA's 7th biennial symposium on the History of Cartography that will take place from Thursday 13 September until Saturday 15 September 2018 in the Bodleian’s Weston Library in the heart of Oxford (UK)

We will enjoy an excellent programme of presentations and posters to investigate the cartography of Africa, Asia, Oceania and the Americas as influenced by cosmopolitan exploration and imperialistic activity during, but not limited to, the ‘long nineteenth century’ (mid-18th to mid-20th centuries).

We invite you to explore the city, its surroundings and its cartographic heritage and to join us for special events and optional tours, including a visit to Blenheim Palace.

Please note that you will first need to Register (create an account) on the site before making your bookings.
