Supervised a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) which was awarded an 'outstanding' grade by the Technology Strategy Board in 2012 and the Research Councils UK Societal Impact Award in 2013 (in conjunction with KCFN).
I hold two degrees from Queen's University, Belfast: a BA (Hons) in Modern History and a MSSc in Organisational Behaviour and Management as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Administration and Law from the University of Ulster and a MA in HRM from CCCU. I completed the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) professional examinations in 1991 and held Graduateship of ICSA between 1991-1995; currently I am Academic Associate of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (AcadAssCIPD), Member of the Chartered Management Institute (MCMI) and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
I have over 20 years’ experience of working with business and the third sector on consultancy projects, and delivering a range of European funded programmes to SME’s.
Professional background: HRM, urban regeneration project management, Business Development Manager of a regional enterprise centre, (responsible for consultancy income generation, loan fund management and business start-up training); during this period I received a number of training excellence awards and led the organisation in attaining the internationally recognised quality mark, ISO9000/01. I also acted as business advisor to regional winners of the Young Enterprise and Livewire Start-up competitions.
I have been working in the University sector for 19 years - Programme Director/Acting Director of the Women's Opportunities Unit, University of Ulster; Senior Lecturer/ Management Studies Subject Chair at the University College St Mark and St John and at Canterbury Christ Church University since 2004, working at the Business School and on initiatives in the Research and Enterprise Development Centre (RED)

Teaching and subject expertise
I teach on a range of HRM modules, supervise HRM related MSc/MA Dissertations and act a a module leader in four modules, supporting sessional staff in delivery as well as delivering several modules myself.
Professional body memberships include the Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ISBE), Chartered Management Institute (CMI), Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and the British Academy of Management, (BAM) where I also hold membership of a number of Special Interest Groups in HRM and Change and Organisational Transformation. I am also a member of the British Educational Research Association (BERA).
I Chaired the Stakeholder Engagement, Diversity and Sustainability Research and Knowledge Exchange Group within the Business School 2012-2014.
