Terms & Conditions - Free Gym membership

Terms & Conditions under which an eligible participant Student may benefit from the following Incentives (“Offers”) provided by Canterbury Christ Church University (“The University”).

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for the Offer, the Participants must be:

  • New undergraduate students starting in September 2024 on Canterbury and Medway Campuses (Level 0, Level 4, Level 7); and
  • must be fully or temporarily registered students (domestic/International) of Canterbury Christ Church University by 20 September 2024
  • Students transferring into the University on level 0 or attending the University for a Top up course.
  • International students must have received confirmation of payment of their tuition fee deposit and completed registration before the deadline provided by the admissions team.

The following students are NOT eligible to participate:

  • Apprenticeship students.
  • Late arrivals and late registrations after the deadline of 20 September 2024.

The University reserves sole discretion to consider students with exceptional circumstances and decide the eligibility of such student(s).

Terms of use

  • Free membership is valid for the First semester of the 2024/2025 academic session (16th September – 17 January).
  • Free Gym Membership under this scheme expires on 17 January, 2025.
  • The Free membership provides:
    Access to Christ Church University Sports Centre gym, including interactive spin studio, dance studio and fitness class programme.
  • The offer is as stated, and no other alternatives will be offered. The offer is not transferable.

Terms and conditions

  1. Definitions

1.1. Member: a user who is entitled to enjoy the benefits of this Agreement, in particular, the use of some or all of the facilities located at University Sports Centre.

1.3. Facilities: the premises, equipment and other facilities of the Centre.
1.4. User conditions: the User Terms and Conditions applicable to all Users of the Centre available on the website at point 1.2 above.
1.5. The Centre: sport and physical activity operating from the Centre’s locations on the University premises being the Christ Church University Sports Centre
1.6. The University: Canterbury Christ Church University.

  1. Students.

2.1 Where a Member ceases their studentship during the term of this Agreement, they will lose access to the benefit under this scheme.

  1. Membership rights

3.1 Members shall enjoy the following rights:
3.2 A Member may not under their Membership rights use other outdoor facilities other than interactive spin studio, dance studio and fitness class programme.

3.3 Only registered Students can use the Christ Church University Sports Centre.
3.4 The University may vary membership rights and vary any services delivered to Members. In particular closing and opening times remain subject to change. Facilities remain subject to change.
3.5 The University will not be held liable where its services cannot be delivered through circumstances beyond its reasonable control e.g. through staff absence and severe weather conditions.

  1. User Conditions

4.1 Members must adhere to the Membership Terms and Conditions regarding the use of the Gym accessible at CCS-Membership-Terms-and-Conditions.pdf (canterbury.ac.uk).

4.2 Users must comply with the University Code of Conduct accessible at the following link Student Conduct Procedures (canterbury.ac.uk)

  1. Exclusion of liability

5.1. The University does not accept responsibility for any damage to or loss of any money, valuables, clothing or property of any kind.

5.2 All items are left at the Centre at the User’s risk.

  1. Acceptance and responsibility
    6.1. All Users use the Centre subject to these Conditions. Non-compliance with any part of these Conditions may generally lead to immediate suspension or termination of membership/right to use the Facilities.
  2. Data Protection and Privacy

7.1 The University will process your personal data in line with its’s Privacy Policy available here Student Privacy Notice - Canterbury Christ Church University . You consent to the University processing your personal data for the purpose of administering the Offer under this incentive.

  1. Vulnerable adults and users with disabilities

8.1. The University is a committed equal opportunities organisation. It will not unlawfully discriminate against Vulnerable Users. It will look to accommodate the needs of Vulnerable Users. However, the University reserves the right to cancel or refuse a Membership where to do so would be lawful and the University feels it cannot reasonably accommodate all the identified needs of the Vulnerable User.

  1. Termination

The University reserves the right to Terminate this offer at any time and at its sole discretion.
