In the event of a lockdown due to Covid-19.

The health, safety and wellbeing of our students, staff and visitors, is very important to us as we continue to live through the COVID-19 pandemic. We will always ensure this is prioritised.

Next year is going to be different for all students at every university. This is because social distancing measures will be in place at all universities.

We remain committed to delivering an outstanding education and student experience both on campus and online in the new academic year 2020/2021.

In September 2020, we look forward to fully re-opening our campuses and facilities. Courses are being adjusted to take account of social distancing measures on campuses. This means you will receive a blend of face-to-face onsite and digital learning and teaching. This mix will vary between courses and modules.

We don’t know how the COVID-19 pandemic will develop. The Government has made clear that action will be taken to control the virus. If there is another national lockdown, or local lockdown in Canterbury, Medway or Tunbridge Wells, we will have to temporarily move our teaching and support services online. The government may require this to happen quickly.

During the Government-directed lockdown in March, we swiftly moved to online learning, teaching and assessments. While our physical campuses temporarily closed, we continued to teach and support our students throughout, with a range of easily-accessible online services and resources ensuring that they were able to progress, succeed and graduate.

We know in the new academic year we will have to remain responsive and flexible. If we are instructed by the Government and Public Health England to close any of our campuses we will quickly move to full online learning, teaching and support for those students affected.

If lockdown occurs we will also ensure students in our University accommodation are supported and can continue to live in our halls for the remainder of their contract.

We will do all we reasonably can to minimise the disruption to your education and key support services. We will communicate directly with you to explain the impact of any lockdown and the support available to you and provide up-to date information via our website
