Michael Jenner

Geography graduate

Since graduating I worked in the public sector as part of a Local Planning Authorities Development Management team prior to joining a private sector practise where I am involved in a diverse range of projects throughout the East of England. I am also studying a part-time MA in Urban and Regional Planning, with the intention of later becoming a fully Chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute.

Studying Geography at CCCU exposed me to a variety of different modules and enabled me to focus my learning in my own areas of interest. For me these were based on the built environment modules and a heavy focus on GIS. I consider GIS skills fundamental to anyone looking to work in practice; these are skills I still use daily. The approachability of the academic staff made my learning experience thoroughly enjoyable, and the field trip to Malta enables the year group to bond. The extra curricula opportunities further enhanced my University experience, and representing the 1st XI hockey team for all three years was certainly a highlight!
