Profile summary

I am a Senior Lecturer in Criminal Justice and teach on the Applied Criminology course. I have previously worked within the 3rd sector with offenders (predominantly drug using prolific offenders) and with the Police, Prisons and Probation to reduce offending in the local community. I have worked for the Home Office and within the Probation Service in Kent.

Research and knowledge exchange

My academic interests are in the construction of media narrative surrounding crime and justice and the treatment of substance misuse within the criminal justice system. I have most recently completed research for the Metropolitan Police on the use of predictive policing software and firearms licencing. I am also a regular contributor to the Blackstones Handbook for Policing Students.

Teaching and subject expertise

I am responsible for teaching at all levels of the Applied Criminology course and module lead: Transnational Crime and Global Markets (level 4),  Media, Crime and Justice (Level 5), Crime and Social Harm (Level 5) and Popular Culture, Crime and Justice (level 6).
