Knowledge Exchange
A key part of our work is focused on the application of academic knowledge and research to the work of practitioners in the field. Central to this is the work of Criminal Justice Practice that provides a focus for our externally facing applied research, evaluation, consultancy and training within the criminal justice sector.
Examples of our recent work include:
- A report for the European Commission on the effectiveness of the 24/7 Point of Contact system used to counter international cybercrime (ongoing).
- A report for the College of Policing on knowledge exchange between the academic community and crime and intelligence analysis (2014).
- Working with the BKA (German Federal Police Office) to develop and deliver a set of three cybercrime training courses for European police investigators (2011).
- Working with Europol to co-ordinate the development and delivery of cybercrime training to police investigators in Europe (2010).
- An evaluation of Shepway Community Safety Unit’s ‘Four Shorts and a Funeral’ DV (2010).
- Advising the UK Government's Risk and Regulation Advisory Council (RRAC) on the issue of risk aversion and police culture (June 2008).
- An evaluation of the Broadstairs Dispersal Area for Thanet Council.
- An evaluation of High Tech Crime Investigation training for NSLEC (2003-2006).
- An evaluation of Estonian higher education provision in Policing, Prisons and Legal Services (2005 and 2009).
- An evaluation of European High Tech Crime Investigation training for An Garda Síochána, Ireland (2006-2007).
- Advisory work to the Open Society Justice Initiative for their 'Addressing Ethnic Profiling by Law Enforcement in Europe' project (June 2005).
- Advisory work for the NPIA consultation for the Police National Mobilisation policy.
