They had no youth involvement in their department and they brought me along as an expert to help with youth participation work and community rights work as part of the Big Society agenda.
My degree helped a lot as some of the modules we do are about critical thinking and essay writing and all those skills helped when I had to produce a report and a presentation when I had to put recommendations to the Minister.
It’s a great idea to do internships if you can. It opens up opportunities and opens more doors for working in that sector. It’s quite a big thing for future employers so I think in that sense my degree and the internship will come together and help me get a good job.
